This is obviously a time of tremendous change and overwhelming challenges. Prior to the events of the week of September 10, we were facing an economic slowdown and growing market uncertainties. Since our national tragedy, business and economic challenges have increased exponentially, particularly for our partners providing incentive travel and meeting services.

The importance of examining all possible strategies for responding to the serious and legitimate concerns of clients questioning whether or not to cancel existing or future incentive travel or meeting plans is one we are taking seriously. An important consideration that must be factored into this decision making process is what options are available if an incentive trip or group event is canceled. Doing nothing may have a negative impact, specifically for those individuals who have worked hard to qualify and earn their reward. Conversely, the economics of canceling or discontinuing an existing incentive travel or meeting may limit the budgets available for a comparable alternative. There are however, effective solutions that can be presented that allow you and your clients to appropriately address this situation within reasonable economic parameters.

During the Gulf War crisis, merchandise awards proved to be a successful and popular alternative when the situation called for canceling incentive travel.
